This family-run business has been passed down through generations, with Mark’s grandfather starting the ferry service to the picturesque island. Mark learned the ins and outs of the business from his father, and in 2003 he took the helm, establishing Island Ferries. Over the years, this ferry service has evolved into Howth Cliff Cruises, offering a variety of tours in addition to the classic trip to Ireland’s Eye. Experience the beauty of the Irish coastline and the magic of exploring this hidden gem with Howth Cliff Cruises.

The ferry to Ireland’s Eye is a picturesque and tranquil journey across the waters of the Irish Sea. Passengers can enjoy stunning views of the rugged coastline and the iconic Howth Head cliffs as they make their way to the small, uninhabited island.

Weather permitting, the ferry will land at the island where passengers can disembark and explore the rugged beauty of Ireland’s Eye. Please note that the landing stage is not a pontoon, it is steep steps carved into the rock, this adventure is not fit for all and should only be taken at your own discretion should you feel able-bodied for some climbing.

Visitors can also take a stroll around the island, taking in the stunning views of the mainland. The island’s ancient Martello tower, which dates back to the early 19th century, is a popular landmark. The island offers panoramic views of the surrounding area, and the opportunity for a gorgeous sea swim in the clear waters on the west-facing beach. The island is home to a variety of bird species, including puffins, gannets, and cormorants, making it a popular spot for birdwatchers.

Overall, the ferry to Ireland’s Eye offers a unique and peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, allowing passengers to immerse themselves in the beauty and tranquility of this hidden gem off the coast of Dublin.

Please note that the island is a protected bird sanctuary and dogs are not allowed on the island. Please take any rubbish with you on the return journey and leave the island undisturbed as found.

This is a return ferry service. If you wish to experience the island from the sea only without landing, please book our Ireland’s Eye Tour here.
